Use Self-Adhesive Foam or Rubber Strips

There are several methods of draft-proofing doors and windows, and one of the easiest methods uses self-adhesive foam strips purchased from most hardware stores. If you are installing these on doors and windows that open regularly, bear in mind the strips can wear quickly. Use self-adhesive rubber strips instead—these are more durable.

Make sure that there is enough clearance for the draft-proof strip by running a piece of thick cardstock paper (card) around the frame (or area that you are installing the strips). If the paper sticks in a certain area then you may not have enough clearance for the draft-proofing; it also means that you are less likely to have a draft in this area. Make sure the surface you are sticking the strips to is clean so these adhere properly.
